Dark rainy morning when we left the apartment today, but we´re troopers & decided to do the double decker tour bus around town anyhow. The three of us took the bus down to Montjuic mountain where we hopped off the bus to take a tour around Poble Espanol - a small replica spanish village which shows off some of Spain´s more celebrated architecture. It was originally built for the World Fair in 1929 & now in the mock buildings, are restaurants & shops. Stopped to watch glass-making for a bit which was cool b/c I´ve only ever seen it done on TV before. Next we took the cable-car/gondola thing up the mountain to visit the Montjuic castle. From here we got a great view overlooking both city & sea. By now it was starting to get sunny out which was a great relief (sightseeing in the rain kinda bites). Oh yeah - Barcelona has all these stray cats that just live in the Parks ... kinda´ strange to just walk around and come across these random mangey cats everywhere. After lunch down by the water (in a restaurant which serves not enough food for too much money) we hoped back on the bus. This time we got a really funny tour guide on the bus which was nice. And basically spent the rest of the day checking out the city of Barcelona from the top of the tour bus - which is kinda´ nice not to have to walk everywhere ... let´s you see a lot of things all in one shot ... sights you may not have gotten to otherwise. |
