Zagreb to Split...

ZAGREB, "Cest is d' best!"
As we wandered around Zagreb Greg (an Aussie guy I met in the local hostel) and I kept running into scenes of kids rapping in matching neon tracksuits... too cute!

ZAGREB, hostel
The hostel gang in Zagreb. Three locals, a Russian, a Californian and ME! This was my first ever "red wine with coke mixer" night. The thought of polluting wine with a mixer of anything, let alone coke, revolted me. Thus I made a valiant attempt to drink the local red without the coke, but trust me, it needed it!

SPLIT, city view
View of Split, home of Goran Ivanisevic. This city lies on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia, and was formed around the summer palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian (built 295-305 AD). The original palace is still there in its entirety, although most of the structure has been transformed over the millenia into a labyrinth of shops and public buildings, including ironically a cathedral (Diocletian is notorious for his persecution of Christians). It is the now-cathedral section of the palace which forms the tower visible in the city skyline.

SPLIT, Diocletian's palace
Part of the old town which dates from the time of Diocletian's palace.

SPLIT, shopping street
The narrow shop-lined streets that have been adapted from the original structure of Diocletian's palace.

SPLIT, Julie and I
Julie (we met in the Zagreb hostel) and I kick back on a night out in Split.
