What is a Doula?
A doula is a professionally trained woman who assists childbearing families before, during and after labor and delivery.  She provides nonclinical support concentrating on the physical and emotional needs of the mother during birth.  She can bridge the gap between the well meaning and supportive partner who may have little knowledge of the birth process and the caregiver who has precious little time.
