When starting out, if you want to succeed, there IS some neccesary organizations, books, and web sites that you should definitly know about!
Rabbit Groups/Organizations
The very first thing that you should do, is join the A.R.B.A. (the American Rabbit Breeders Association)! It's fairly inexpensive and you get TONS of information about upcoming shows, and rabbit raising. When your a member, you get a free inforative book, to get you started. Then, every other month you will recive a magizine called: Domestic Rabbits. In here you will get lots and lots of cage and equiptment ads, so you can go shopping for the best deals around!! When it all boils down, it is very wise to inroll in such a mighty club! I wish I would of sooner!
Another smart desion would be to look into a breed specialty club. You simply pick out the breed(s) that you wish to show/raise, and then become a member of those breed's specific club.
Good Books
As far as books go, I strongly recomend The Standard of Prefection!! This book has everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about rabbit breeds!!!!!! This is a must have for everybody! You can study up on your breed(s), make sure your show-rabbits are indeed ment to be showed, and check for DQs in your litters.
Even if you are not a youth, the book, Your Rabbit, A Kids Guide To Raising Better Rabbits, is great to own! I found it a life-saver, when I had any problems with any of my pet buns! This is an ALL IN ALL great book!!
