Annie Sue is a sweet, young, and talented girl pig who tried to get some theatre experience on the Muppet Show. Her big example is Miss Piggy.
Due to the fact that Annie got some of the best acts, that she was adored by the audience including Statler and Waldorf ("Shall we shoot her now before she ruins everything?") and that something seemed to be going on between her and Kermit, made her a real threat for Miss Piggy, who was always ready with an insult or a karate chop.
During the first half of the second season of the Muppet Show in 1977, Annie Sue was created as the main character for puppeteer Louise Gold, who had joined the crew in that year. However, she wasn't much of a character in those days: she was mostly an unnamed background singer.

She debuted in the episode where Elton John was the guest star, where she was one of the hippies singing along to "Bennie and the Jets". She had pink hair, which was replaced by her trademark yellow curls after the episode.
Annie Sue was mostly active during the beginning of season 3, where she got her name and personality.
During this and later seasons, Annie Sue could often be found singing in the background, with either the pigs or the main Muppet characters. If a background choir of Muppet males (like Fozzie, Scooter, Beauregard and Floyd) needed a female, Annie Sue was
always there for them, making the group complete. It's hard to imagine a Muppet Show group song without Annie Sue.
Annie Sue made one movie appearance in The Great Muppet Caper, 1981 before her 'career' turned downwards. She was seen a few times afterwards (for instance in the special The Muppets: A Celebration of Thirty Years and Jim Henson's memorial service in 1990). Her once yellow curly hair was now cut off and blond, and she seemed to have gained some weight. The fans will always remember her, though, as the cute little pig on the Muppet Show.
