The Foundation...

In 1908, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was chartered on Howard University's campus in Washington, D.C. It was the first Greek letter organization founded by African-American college women. Sixteen women sought to establish an organization that would promote friendship, high scholarship, leadership, service, and exemplary character that would enhance their college experience. The primary goal of Alpha Kappa Alpha is to provide service to all mankind. Through the years, positive programs have evolved that allow the Sorority to study and solve increasingly complex problems facing Americans everywhere. As the demand of society becomes more diverse and pressing, Alpha Kappa Alpha has evolved with the times. Alpha Kappa Alpha's present national program addresses the critical issues of education with an emphasis on math, science, economics, family, the arts, and the world community. The Path...

The Pi Omicron Chapter was founded in the town of Oberlin, Ohio in 1989 by 8 outstanding young women. These women felt that the town of Oberlin was missing something... that *something* happened to be a touch of PINK and GREEN! The Ladies of Pi Omicron have done many service projects over the years in Oberlin and in the surrounding towns of Elyria and Lorain, and have also served as role modles for all girls and young women in the surrounding area.
