This is a page about a very special little animal - the Rat! It is unfortunate that rats have such a bad reputation in this world, but they are truly one of the most affectionate little pals that a person can have. Rats are Rodents, and believe it or not, the Rodent family make up almost half of all mammals. Like with any animal, if a rat is brought up in a loving and caring environment, it will become tamed and domesticated, like any other house pet, and vice-versa, so the belief that rats are vicious, is just a pre-conceived myth. Few people also recognise the fact that the Black Death that happened in the 14th century, which is commonly blamed on the rat for the diseases it carried, was actually caused by the diseases the fleas carried - which were on the rats! By having this page I would hope to convince you that rats are actually very sweet little creatures, despite what a lot of people think. Rats are highly intelligent, and they love being around people! They make neat pets, and I would recommend having a rat anyone.
