Karting returned to Maine in 1992 when Beech Ridge Motor Speedway agreed to lease their facility to Joe Pastore on Friday nights for modified go kart racing. Since then it has grown and developed into the most successful and recognized Karting facility in Maine. Southern Maine Karting Inc. is the only karting organization in the country that requires roll cages on all youth karts. It is truly the leader in safety technology. The racing industry is always looking for ways to increase safety as well as speed, Southern Maine Karting Inc. has achieved that. They have moved ahead into the future of karting and made it safe, fast, and fun for the whole family.

S.M.K.I. caters to more families in New England than any other facility because of this safety feature. S.M.K.I. offers 10 classes of go kart action as well as two classes of mini cup and 100cc Yamaha 2 Cycle; teen and adult classes, action Friday nights from April to September. The classes offer a lot of competive action with 12 to 20 karts each and every event. Drivers learn not only competion but they also learn to acqure professional driving skills as well as sportsmanship and friendship.

Drivers start as young as six years old and go all the way up to adult. Every season ends with a celebration at our awards ceremony which pays tribute to all drivers who have raced throughout the season. Join us Friday nights to experience safe family fun.
