Living A Lie

It is not uncommon to expext that a doctor performs to his best ability in every circumstance. Nor is it uncommon to expect that a doctor performs out of his best interest of the patient. It should be uncommon however, that a doctor performs on his idea of what would provide a better life socially. When there is a question on gender, doctors follow a strict guideline. If a male if born with a penis of less than 2.5 cm. then he is not a male. If a female is born with a clitoris of larger than 0.9 cm. then shid not a normal female. Essentially, the regulation states that a born male with inadequate size in genitals is not a male, but in fact a female, or at least will be turned into one. A related example of this is a case involving twins born in the 1960's. One of the boys was scarred severly from an accident during his circumcision. Doctors immediately persuaded the parents to allow the sex change procedure. The doctors removed his testicles and penis, and replaced them with a man made vagina. They planned to administer hormones as he grew older, but the twin refused to take them because he felt he was "living a lie" and ultimately decided to change back to a male.>(The 1)
