Hot on the heels of the Blue and Whites sucesses in Demark, skippers who had qualified through the British Masters earlier in the year, went straight into training for their next championship.
In November 2000 the 6 skippers travelled to Grieskirchen in Austria to take part in their first European Masters Championships.
The Competition.
Masters Championships are for individuals. The event drew 28 female and 18 male skippers. All skippers were those who had qualified in the top 5 of their National Masters Competitions which meant that standards were very high. An open age group meant that our youngest competitor, at 11 years, was competing with skippers averaging 18 and over years of age.
Disciplines.
| Freestyle single rope routine: | A combination
of tricks which flow together with a varying degree of difficulty. Between
45 and 75 seconds duration with music if prefered.
|
| 30 second speed | A single rope discipline requiring 3 judges (to take an average score) counting how many times the right foot jumps the rope within 30 seconds. |
| 3 minute speed | The same but for 3 minutes! |
| Triples | The rope passes under the feet 3 times before landing each jump. The skipper has 2 attempts - each with no time limit- the best score of the 2 is taken. |
