Flag
The official flag was adopted in
1969 featuring the provincial shield of arms with the floral
emblem (western red lily). The
flag's upper half is green representing Saskatchewan's
northern forests; the lower half
of the flag is gold, representing the southern grain areas.

Coat of Arms
In 1986 the Coat of Arms was granted by Royal
Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II. It is an augmentation of the
orginal shield of arms adopted by Royal Warrant
of King Edward VII in 1906. Below the shield is the
Provincial motto, "Multis E Gentibus Vires",
which is Latin for "From many peoples strength". The colors
represent: Red suggests the fires that swept
the prairies before the advents of civilization; Green for
luxuriant grass and other vegetation; and Gold
is for fields of ripening grain. The base is formed of
western red lilies - Saskatchewan's floral emblem.
