ME an me bike
Lets get personal then cause i'm sure your dying to know all about me........well aren't you?? Anyway my name's Cris Taylor (no there is no h in that) and i've lived in Yeovil for about 12 years now. I'm 17 and at the moment i'm at yeovil college, yawn. But it gives me something to do an hell i might even learn sumthin.
Well what else can i tell ya....hmm i love my music. especially hip hop, punk and ska...thats my main thing but i like a lot of other stuff, and a fair bit of rock and indie as long as it's not too heavy (napalm death, argh!). I use computers far too much, but i do get out.....i love goin out and seein my friends ridin bikes or down the pub (for good old non-alcoholic fun of course!) errr.....i have a girlfriend called laura, shes a goth chick and i love her (sorry for the mushy stuff) ;p Shes fantastic and to be honest i'm pretty damn happy right now!
As i said before i'm really into my music so heres some of my favorite bands:
you can find links to some of these bands on the links page!!
Until i get my car i'm just gonna be ridin my bike round the local trails and hangin out with friends. I also skate (aggressive, inline) and i'm thinking about trying some of that snowboarding stuff, i've had a go and it's a right laugh. Ahh well, anyway heres my bike riding history.................
I've always ridden bikes but I only learned the wonders of them in July of 99. All my mates were off playing on there bikes and i was left behind so i got myself a secondhand BMX so i could join in, and then a mate from work asked me if i wanted to go out downhilling with him. I'm sure you can imagine the carnage as i rode week after week on a brakeless Beamer downhill and through trails and it was then i decided i had to get some bigger wheels.
After a few weeks of saving and a cock up by the bank (which i had to pay back, bastards) i had enough cash to buy my GT Tequesta. Sure it's not your average dream bike but I love riding it and after many upgrades it's looking pretty smart. My new venture is my specialized FSR frame which i just picked up second hand as my downhill bike (a long expensive build awaits, trust me). See you all out on the trails!
My bikes
I mentioned my bikes above and here they are in all there glory. The tequesta isn't known as the most hardcore frame around but the whole 16 inch, reynolds steel set up makes one hell of a strong frame. I've got some rock shox indy long travel forks on the front which i got off a mate for £20 and haven't let me down yet, and the rest of the gear is just usual jump bike equipment (planet x, dmr etc)
I'm running a single middle chainring up front and an 8 speed at the back, 2.3 tiogas on a d521/azonic wheelset with avid arch rival brakes which really are fantastic if you go in for all that stopping stuff.
The next big changes i'm making are 3 piece 24/7 cranks, and a proper jump seat, dark angel bar/stem combo as well as a dmr chain device.
Hmmm shiny new bike. Right i picked up a crankset and an MRP copy off a mate, a bargain at £50 with a rear brake free! The pedals, brakes, wheels and shifter are coming off my tequesta and i have just purchased a FUNN serial killa stem for my new downhill rig. Should be gettin an azonic bar this weekend to finish it off...hills, here i come!
Shiny old bike....well the tequesta is losing some of it's parts, but it'll still be running along! I have some spare wheels lying about, (a very nice mavic rear)as well as some WTB enduro raptors to replace the tioga's goin on the specialized. Braking will be handled with a rear Avid 2.0 and 1.9 SD lever, and a botch job singlespeed effort will give a smmoth ride...eventually! The old dog can have it's pedals back when i get some more for the FSR, and i've got some new kit lined up for the tequesta as mentioned above as well as a DMR bashring to finish the job. I will have two bikes, oh yes, i will have two bikes.....
