Asphalt Eatters still would like people in each state to start their own dog pulling teams, together we can pull this sport up to the point of 'X games' status.
If you are interested in this sport and would like some information on the dogs, the sport, or would just like to join the site of Asphalt Eatters with your team, or have any information we should add to this site, contact James Corpus.
Its winter time again in the city of Chicago and we have to hang up the boards for a bit until the pavement is clear of snow. All the dogs are fine running on the tread mill to get their exercise. We have pics now so check them out. Thanks to everyone that has emailed Asphalt Eatters for the interest of dog pulling in a different way. We are here to help give the Pitbull a better name and also the American Bulldog.

In the early 90's the Asphalt Eatters did not exist, though one man (Patrick Heraty) and his dog (T-Rex) did...as a pair who skated around the city of Chicago. Every day and night, people would see T-Rex pulling Patrick around the beach, or late at night in Wicker Park going from one bar to another. This gained a large amount of interest for them, from all kinds of people. A year later he purchased another dog (Mazzy Star) that also pulls and has become T-Rex's mate. T-Rex and Mazzy Star had many puppies together and some where trained to pull, while some of the others where given away for pets. Many articles have been written on these dog/skateboarder pairs, as well as a couple of spots on a few television shows.
Today Pat still has Mazzy Star and Spitfire (one of her pups) each take turns pulling him to this day. T-Rex went to James Corpus with two other pups: Henry Rollins and Tallboy. In 1999, James was so intrigued with the idea of the dog pulling that he began a business to help gain public awareness for this sport, and he has named it Asphalt Eatters. James started getting designs for clothes, skateboards, stickers and even trying to get publicity from different television shows to show off this remarkable talent and cooperation that a man and his dogs can have.
The name Asphalt Eatters was sort of a 'name out of a hat' situation because it had to do with dogs, pavement, skateboards, and pulling at fast speeds. So the name stuck and it is here to stay.
Other people that can take credit for helping with the Asphalt Eatters are: Nick Mailla who has taken many action and still film shots of the skateboard-pulling dogs and also owns one on the pups, Devo (who also pulls). Jason Reinhart is another person who deserves some credit, for the designs that the Asphalt Eatters use for merchandise, web-site, and other related items. The one who Asphalt Eatters is grateful to the most, is Patrick, for he planted the interest in James and gave birth to the Asphalt Eatters.
A SAD NOTE THAT HENRY ROLLINS AND TALLBOY HAD PASSED AWAY IN FEBUARY OF 2000.
The Asphalt Eatters have been seen on the following shows:
- Worlds Greatest Pets
- Animal Planet
- Primer Impacto
- Wild Chicago
- Pet Project
