Beuatiful, pale, Irish, sweet, but whatever you do, don't ask her to sing a few bars. Theresa Cassidy-Rourke was born with the same mutant powers as her father Sean Cassidy (Banshee), the ability to unleash sonic forces through her scream. Although she never knew of his existance untill she was about 18 or so... She was raised by her fathers cousin Tom Cassidy, Her mother had died shortly after her birth, and Sean never knew of her existance. Terry's uncle Tom was becoming more invovled with crime as the years went by, and so to protect her he put Theresa in a bording school at age 12. And thats where she developed her biggest problem, alcohol abuse. After Terry had graduated she spent some time on Muir Island working with Moira Mactaggert and Excaliber. After a horrible encounter with the Shadow King (Uncanny X-Men #278-280), she traveled to the states in search of her uncle "Black" Tom Cassidy and his partener the Juggernaut. It was then she was dicovered by Cable and was invited to join X-Force (X-Force #3-5).
Being the oldest of all the members of X-Force (besides Cable and Domino) she was quickly accepted by their ranks, and was proven capable of taking a leadership posistion with the team. As the months rolled by she found a good careing freind within teammate James Proudstar (Warpath). Their relationship became a bit more than freinds after James encountered her about her alcoholism, and soon she found the strength to give up booze forever after founding out that her Uncle Tom was dying from the Legacy Virus (X-Force #31). Also her alliance with her father became closer as X-Force started working more closely with the X-Men (X-Force #'s 35 and 42). Her relationship with Warpath never really expanded to that of lovers due to the interfierence of the woman named Risque (X-Force #51-72) Even though that scurvy was settled, she couldn't escape her past. The death of Jamie Madrox (X-Factor #100) also known as Multiple Man from X-Factor, hit her kinda hard even though her affair was only with one of his duplicates. And of course how could she ever get away from Wade Wilson (Deadpool), once this guy considers you a freind he'll never let up on the favors you owe him (X-Force #'s 47 and 56). Terry was made deputy leader of X-Force after Cannonball was made an X-Man (X-Force #44). And took over the reigns of the team completly when Cable and Domino split. Even though both Sam and Dom have returned she still has complete control over the direction that the team is going. That was untill they met the Hellions. In a battle with the new Hellions, Syrins throat was cut open by Feral's claws (X-Force #90) and resulted in Terry losing her voice compltely.
Still possesing her powers, but no way to activate them, Syrin left the team (X-Force #91) to go spend time with a distant aunt who lives in the high desert. I know this was a move made by Marvel to clear room on the team for the return of Rictor and Shatterstar, and possibly put leadership of the team back in the hands of Cannonball, but I'm willing to bet that I won't enjoy any of the future issues as well without Syrin in there.
