the best things about Halloween

What can I say about Halloween? It is flat out the most awesome day of the year! You get to be someone completely different from what you are every other day, your favorite scary movies and TV specials are on every year, and for as long as you are young at heart there's always Trick or Treating. The other names of Halloween include All Hallows Eve and Samhain, and it is the day Wiccans and Pagans celebrate the New Year. The first things that come to mind when you think of Halloween could be jack-o-lanterns, witches flying on broomsticks, ghosts and goblins, or to some horror movie fanatics, Michael Myers.

My usual tricks and treats on this day include some traditional antics as well as visiting some meaningful "haunts." I love to take long walks around town to see what frightful feasts for the eyes that people conjure up for their houses and front yards, I like to wander the local cemeteries, and I usually pay my yearly homage to the victims of the Salem Witch Trials on Find-a-Grave, but since 2003 I have been trekking to Jefferson, OR for Samhain.

Updates for 2007: The website has been given its new look for the year, and all the links have been weeded out and a few new ones put in. The rant page has been updated and the bit about Halloween TV specials has been given its own page. For the most part, the updates are done but I may want to add more as I go. Stay tuned!
