Burning Questions
Posted by the Dunadan Companion on Ringbearer.org
There is only one truly burning question regarding Gollum.
Did he burn to nothingness in the fires of orodruin? or
Did he become one with the Ring as he fell,
casting off his mortal bonds,
and turning into Saurgol ....
Maybe some of our learned Loremasters could speak to this question? (or maybe a network executive looking for a Saturday morning replacement ?)
Where does a hobbit...?

About where does a hobbit come up to on a man? Are they about butt-high or so? Butt-high hobbits. Huh.

In general, who's taller, hobbits or dwarves?

How many screaming hobbit children can you fit in a boiling cauldron of broth? Peel 'em and eat 'em, no?

Sorry - it's late in the day and bad hobbits are hard to break...

Lets have a look at some numbers

Imrahil is, according to _Unfinished Tales_, born in the 23rd generation after the union of Imrazor and Mithrellas the Elf.
Assuming no other Elvish ancestors, Imrahil's fraction of Elvish blood is therefore 1/(2^23) = 1.19E-7.

That is, Imrahil is 0.0000119 percent Elf.

Elrond is 56 percent Elf.

Does (Could?) Imrahil have an exclusively Elvish characteristic that Elrond does not?

As you say, there is a difference between does and could.

Could he? Maybe through a genetic fluke.

Does he? The odds against that seem astronomical. Elrond has over 47,000 times as much Elf-blood as Imrahil has.
