The Arkansas River is the most popular whitewater rafting destination in the world. This was my introduction to whitewater and my first ultimate high water experience. This premiere trip does not require previous experience.
The trip started with a mild warm up before braving classic rapids such as seven steps. At the deepest point during our journey our instructor allowed us to take a dip in the river by jumping of a cliff while other rafters were negotiating the challenging rapids. In our trip we experience 7 major rapids.
Rapids on the Arkansas vary from easy Class I float trips all the way up to the most extreme challenges of Class V and VI water. Our trip was a Class III water with Class IV in some rapids. Altogether it was an awesome experience.
