Markham Middle School

11 - 13 - 03

On 11 - 13 - 03 I walked into the school were I work and to my surprise this is what I saw A white blanket of snow all over the lawns and building tops. Along the walkways were three foot piles of snow like hail. Now this is" Watts" right in the middle of Los Angeles.

The night before we had a storm that hit us at about 4:30pm. It rained and hailed ice the size of peas. I lost power in my house about 6:00pm and didn't get it back until 2:00am. I got to work at 6:00am as I looked around all I could see was the white stuff. I went to the main office and when I open the door there was water every wear.


	30 some class rooms had water in them.
	As the children started to come in you should have seen there eyes as they looked around and started to play in the white stuff.













	Teachers and children all worked together
	to clean the school we called in three
	outside teams of window cleaners and
	building and ground workers from district
	I to help so the school could be open the
	next day.
