Shinji's Father, Gendou Ikari, The creator of the Evangelions ( EVA) and NERV. Previously having lived with his uncle (After his mother died) as his father went to work for NERV, Shinji is forced to pilot Eva Unit 01, being one of the only children possessing this amazing ability. He Begins to hate his father even more and blames him for the fact that he has to be thrust into this new, painful life without any choice. However, Misato Katsuragi, Shinji's guardian, and Shinji act like they are mother and son, and to Shinji he has gotten his mother back, Although Misato proves to have a horrible drinking problem.

Making friends does not come easily to Shinji, in fact he finds that the closer he gets to someone the more he hurst them. But on NERV Shinji meets the other Children: Rei ( who is a clone of and Angel and Shinji's mother), Asuka (Who turns out to be Shinji's Soul Mate), And Kaworu ( who teaches Shinji many helpful life skills)
