It has been a long and fruitless wait for good news.
I am forced to report today that the Leader Post has reported
on page A6 that Mr. Ken Fyke has been awarded the Canadian Healthcare Award
for Distinction.
Toward the end of a list of experiences including CEO-ships
and Presidency's and Deputy Minister role it is stated that Mr. Fyke's
report on healthcare for Saskatchewan ( The Fyke report ) was used as the
framework for the current NDP governments Action Plan for Healthcare in
Saskatchewan to date!
Should we really be giving this man an award?
Should we give the NDP an award for taking his advice
and recommendations?
Lets ask the folks in the waiting rooms and in the hallways
and on the waiting lists in this province.
Lets ask the healthcare professionals from all walks of
healthcare.
The Canadian Healthcare Association is made up of employers
and government agencies from across Canada including our own famous
Saskatchewan Association of Health Organizations.
Congratulations Mr. Fyke - the people who hired you and
claim that the Action Plan for Healthcare is a success in Saskatchewan
are among those giving you an award.
I am suddenly overwhelmed with an image of NDP politicians
patting themselves on the back.
I can't tell if they are pleased to have done nothing
or pleased to have not screwed up recently.
Lets hope we do not have to wait another entire year for
some good news in healthcare or for the inevitable ELECTION call.
Expect the worst and then disappointment won't seem bad
at all.
