SPECIES SPECIFIC INFO
The Silver Dollar is a peaceful plant eating fish, so no live plants will survive for long in the same tank. Plastic plants can be used or an unplatable plant (such as the Amazon sword) could be used. This fish really should be fed on a predominately vegetable based diet, however this is not absolutely essential.
Due to its large size and the fact it is a shoaling fish the Silver Dollar should be kept in a spacious aquaria with open swimming areas.
