SPECIES SPECIFIC INFO
A very attractive community fish with a strange habit for remaining motionless midwater, keeping all fins erect and only gently flicking its pectoral fin to keep its position. This fish is best found in dimly lit, tannin-stained water (just add a piece of bogwood - this will naturally release its dyes) as this brings up its colours to their best.
Males are slimmer than females and when the females are full of eggs this difference between body size is much more obvious.
They are best kept in sholas with other peaceful fishes of similar size. If kept on their own this fish will tend towards hiding behind plants or rocks etc. This Rasbora enjoys a well-planted tank with open water spaces. Good filtratiuon and regular water change are, of course, necessary. A gentle flow of water is enjoyed.
