SPECIES SPECIFIC INFO
This species has, in my opinion, very beautiful markings. They are a shoaling fish and when in a shoal they look particularily attractive. They are a relatively peaceful fish and a good communtiy tank member.
This species is sensitive to poor water conditions, chemicals and even very fresh water. Therefore the fish must be kept in well maintained water where partial water changes are a regular occurance. Any cleaning apparatus that is used within the tank should be swilled out with old tank water (or any water that has been treated with an appropriate dechloriniser) to avoid any 'fresh water' entering the tank. The fish also enjoys well a matured tank with rocks, wood and plants in it.
My four rams spend are quite nervous and spend a lot of time hiding in the plants whilst I'm around. They tend to venture out if I sit still for a long as any sudden movements make them dash straight back to the plants.
Males can be identified by the extented second part on the dorsal fin.
