SPECIES SPECIFIC INFO

This variety of gourami has two names, both the Indian and the Banded gourami. Bothy names are used as frequently as each other. This species prefers a thickly planted aquarium and a gentle flow of water. It also likes floating vegetation, although we don't have any in our tank they are perfectly happy. They are a very colourful fish and certainly add a little bit of diversity. They are a peaceful member of the tank, but it is best to keep them in pairs or they get lonely!

However, our fish are not at all active. They do spend most of their time hiding behind the plants in our tank. They have a tendency to settle on the gravel which does stop our hearts from time to time when they look as though they are dead! They come out to eat and do become more active in the evening and 'socialise' with the other gouramis.
