Barret is the leader of the group AVALANCHE, a team that fights the Shinra to save the world. The shinra uses up all the Mako energy, or as Bugenhagen says, spiritual energy. He lives mostly thanks to his gun/arm. His wife died years ago in Corel, so now he lives with his girl, Marlene.
