Lost their lives during World War II

The following is a list of service members that have lost their lives during World War II and is taken from the Press Enterprise, Bloomsburg, PA, May 29-31, 2004

They walked the streets of Bloomsburg, Berwick, Danville and other local communities. They were neighbors, friends, classmates. Than they answered the call to war.

This weekend, the eyes of the nation are on the dedication of a memorial in Washington, D.C., to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s World War II generation.

It was not a nameless sacrifice, as the faces on these pages show.

At least 307 local men and women were killed before the guns fell silent nearly 59 years ago. More than 400,000 Americans lost their lives so others could live in freedom.

“They can call us ‘The Greatest Generation,’, said John Paul, 78, a Bloomsburg World War II veteran. “But the true heroes are the ones that are gone. They paid the price.”

We remember and honor them here. Press Enterprise (pictures are also in the paper and I will gladly scan and send you a picture of any of the them for you family records)
