Catawissa News Item, Catawissa, PA, Thursday, April 9, 1908
Stacy Margerum
, a former resident of Catawissa, died at his home in Newberry after a lengthy illness with liver trouble. Deceased was employed by the N.Y.C. RR. at Newberry as night foreman of their shops.
Deceased was a native of Catawissa, the second son of the late Charles Margerum, and had he lived until the 25th of this month would have been 55 years of age. He followed railroading all his life, having filled the positions of brakeman, fireman and engineer in the service of the Penn’s RR, at this place. He is survived by his widow, who was a Miss Clemens, of Quakake, and four children, two sons and two daughters. Also, by five brothers and a sisters: William, of Winetka, Ills.; Clinton, of Philadelphia, and George, Edward, Harry and Miss Kate, of this place.
The funeral services were held at his late residence, 1254 Elm street of Tuesday evening. Rev. Roger Williams, of the Memorial Baptist church, officiating and Wednesday morning the body was taken to Quakake for interment at the White church.

After a protracted illness Claude Howard McHenry, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Coy Remley on Mill street, yesterday morning. He was known to all of us as Bert McHenry, and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clemuel McHenry, and a lifelong resident of this Borough, and never married. He was aged 63 years and a member of the Christian church. He is survived by two brothers, Frank of Wilkes-Barre and John, of Utah, and one sister, Mrs. Charles Hirleman, of town. The funeral services will be held in the Benton Christian Church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock and will be in charge of the pastor, Rev. M.G. Williams. Interment will be made in the Benton cemetery.

In the sudden death of Joseph Franklin McHenry, of Stillwater, this Thursday morning, at 8:30 o’clock, there is general grief, as “Uncle Joe” as he was known by everyone, young or old, was beloved by everyone who knew him. An attack of heart trouble at 7:30 p.m. caused his death at 8:30 a.m. He was born and always lived in Stillwater where years ago he conducted a general mercantile business where Mr. Atwood McHenry now conducts a similar business. He was a staunch democrat a good neighbor always in good humor, he will be greatly missed. He was 84 yrs of age the 28th of March past, and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. O. D. Hagenbuch with whom he resided and Miss Eva McHenry, of town. The funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, meeting at the home of his daughter at 1:30 o’clock, with services following in the Christian church at Stillwater, conducted by Rev. W.I. Burrell. Interment in the Stillwater cemetery.

Following an illness since last Monday night from peritonitis, Mrs. Emma S. Miller passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ambrose Sitler of Light Street Saturday evening shortly after 8 o’clock. She was aged 61 years, 10 months and 15days. The daughter of Rev. E.B. Wilson of the Reformed church, she has resided in Light Street for the last 14 years and had wide circle of friends who will greatly mourn her death. Prior to moving to Light Street she resided in Rohrsburg. Surviving her are the following children: Frank Dewitt, of Philadelphia, Charles Watts and Mrs. Ambrose Sitler, of Light Street; two grandchildren, Harold and Franklin and the following named brothers and sisters also survive: Mrs. Mary Beamer, of Idaville, Adams county; Mrs. Anna McHenry, of Stillwater and John and Charles Wilson of Forks.

The funeral of the late Jonathan T. Moss, of Cambra, was held on Sunday at the Mossville church, Revs. McClain and Hilbish, officiating. Interment was made in the Mossville cemetery. The deceased was aged 77 years and 10 months, and died of heart trouble and dropsy at the home of his son, Mr. George Moss, the Cambra undertaker, on Friday, after an illness of several months. There survives the following children: George Moss, Cambra, Mrs. Franklin Force, Mossville; Mrs. Wilson Gibbons, Harveyville; Mr. Irvin Moss and Mrs. Elizabeth Mingus, of Mossvile, are the surviving brothers and sister.

, died at his home in Roaringcreek township on July 29th, aged 83 years and 9 days. Eleven children survived him. For upwards of 40 years he served as justice of the peace.
