What if...

What if our favorite railroads never faded away? What might have become of them?
This page takes a whimsical look at those very questions and then some.
Please do not copy these photos, I worked long and hard on them! Instead, direct your friends to this page so that all may enjoy.
Thanks,
Steve

We all know that Amtrak has fallen on hard times. This view of an A B A set of Baldwins passing through Leetsdale, PA this past summer should send a message to Washington about the state of Amtrak's equipment.

The B&O and Western Maryland have long been competitors, but in this scene, we find the two working together to move a coal drag. Actually the WM G.E. Dash 9-40CW is running off horsepower hours owed to B&O.

Much to the delight of railfans everywhere, NS has decided to change its paint scheme to the maroon and gold scheme that was once tried out on N&W G.E. units in the early eightys.

In late 1986 the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie once again turned to General Electric for new locomotives purchasing 10 of G.E.'s C39-8 model. As has been practice with P&LE locomotives for years the units were numbered buy their horsepower. Here we see No. 3902 waiting her next assignment at McKees Rocks, PA August 12, 1995.

The Pennsy has always been known for having one of everything and EMD's SD80MAC is no exception. Here we see No. 81 leading a G.E. C40-8W past the West end of Pitcairn Yard on a hot summer day in 1998.

In 1998 the Western Maryland took order of 35 G.E. Dash 9-40CW's. Here we see two of them leading a train Just outside of Hagerstown, MD in October of 2003. The WM always keeps their equipment clean.
