AWARD DEFINITIONS

Award of Arms: Individuals who have shown consistency of effort over time within the arts, sciences, service or arts martial and willingness to maintain involvement in the SCA.

Purple Fret: Individuals who have given for long and devoted service to a group, office, or kingdom.

Award of the Nordbandr: The award will be bestowed upon gentles who have committed those heroric and specific deeds of valor, courtesy, or prowess in the arts martial and which have increased the renown and reputation of Northshield. This award is for individual deeds as opposed to constant performance. An example of the first might be leading a charge against a greater force at Pennsic, of the last, shooting a 300 IKAC.

Order of the Saltire: Membership in this order may be offered to an individual that has shown a proven record of widespread guidance and instruction, enriching the abilities of the Northshield populace. Members of the order may bear the badge: Vert estencely argent, a saltire Or surmounted by a lozenge ploye' argent.

Order of the Northshield Cross: Membership in the order may be offered to those gentles who have served the Principality above and beyond the norm, either through service such as an officer (local or principality) or service to a group (autocratting, working at events, scribal efforts, etc.)

The Prince/Princess' Cypher: given for personal service to the Coronet. The token includes the initial (cypher) of the Giver.

Order of the Crwth: given for proficiency in the performing arts (dance, bardic recitation, music, theater, etc.)

Order of the Pyxis: given for putting forth great effort at researching, creating and maintaining a period persona and atmosphere.

Order of the Hearthstone: given to groups who consistently (or specifically) excel at showing hospitality and hosting events. This award is not just for SCA branches; it is for any body of people that are a "group" (like a household, or archers, or Constables, ect.)

Order of the Aegis: Membership in the order may be offered to those gentles who enrich the Principality through either their skill in or teaching of an art or science.

Order of the Iron Watch: Membership in this order may be offered to individuals showing outstanding proficiency in their chosen martial activity, which include archery, thrown weapons, heavy weapons (all varieties), rapier combat, scouting, and equestrian activities. Members of the order may wear a baldric adorned with a gold griffin, as well as an emblem or emblems representing the martial activity or activities for which they were recognized.

Order of Persephone's Circle: given to those who have served the Principality as Consort.

The Scroll of Honor: a record of the worthy deeds of the people of Northshield and its friends. The Principality Herald or a deputy cares for the Scroll and insures that it is displayed at court.
