Phil Winsor Social Studies Assignment Part One A. Organization-In the Georgia Constitution there are 11 articles. The branches are also not next to each other. In the U.S. Constitution there are only seven articles. The branches are listed first and in order. The Georgia Constitution has much more detail and more specific articles. B. The Georgia Constitution is more detailed, and tailors itself to a smaller jurisdiction by being more exact on certain issues. C. In the legislative branch, the two Constitutions are relatively the same. Both vest legislative power into the Legislative branch. There are few minor differences. The only large difference is that the Georgia Legislature can not regulate money. The Executive branch is also very similar. There are cabinets and electors. The Judicial Branch, though, is very different. The U.S. constitution only talks about vesting power into the courts, treason, and the trials of dignitaries. The Georgia Constitution outlines all of the courts, rules about certain trials, where trials can be held, how to appeal etc. D. The United States courts listed are Superior and Inferior Courts. The Georgia Courts listed are Magistrate Courts, Probate Courts, Juvenile Courts, Superior Courts, Courts of Appeal, and Supreme Court. E. The duties of the Branches are all practically exactly the same. The Legislative Branch’s duty is to pass laws as needed for the people. The Executive Branch’s duty is to convene legislature as necessary and command the Armed forces of the nation or state. The Judicial Branch’s duty is to give fair trials by an impartial jury expediently and publicly.
