Remy Zero...

OK let me first say WOW! This band is AMAZING! Villa Elaine has been one of my favorite cds of all time for years now, but this was my first time seeing them live, and well worth the wait. They played one song from their first album, which was very cool, and then a ton from their new cd, and a bunch from Villa Elaine. Although they did not play my personal favorite, "Fair," they did satisfy me with a truly amazing rendition of "Life In Rain". Cinjin started out with just himself playing an acoustic riff and singing softly and passionately, and then the two guitarists joined in both with acoustic guitars; I just can't even descibe how incredible it was. For sure the most intense song of the night was "Perfect Memory" which Cinjin opened by saying something like: "You know something is really painful, like when someone says 'remember that car accident you were in when you broke your arm?' and you're like 'no don't talk about it!' cause the pain in your arm comes rushing back? well, that's how this song is for me. but i like playing it for you because it makes me feel better." (ok, that was a really bad job of quoting by me, but it was something along those lines) Anyway, most of the song was played by just him and his acoustic, but then the rest of the band joined in at the end. Anyone who was there understands me when i say i honestly had tears in my eyes during this song. Gawd, that was an emotionally painful song to see him play, but in a good way; i keep saying this, but it was amazing. I can't listen to that song on the cd anymore because it was about a million times better live, seriously. The encore ended with a song which they apparently "never play live," and which is not on any of their albums, called "Joey". It was a totally awesome song, i really loved it. But then again, i love anything by them.

i dont have an actual set list or anything, but these are the songs i remember them playing at some point in the show. From Villa Elaine: "Hermes Bird," "Prophecy," "Life In Rain," "Hollow," "Gramarye," and possibly "Yellow Light" or another one, i dont remember for sure. From The Golden Hum i know they played: "Glorious #1," "Bitter," "Perfect Memory," "Save Me," "Belong," "I'm Not Afraid" (another totally awesome acoustic one with a really cool intro by Cinjun), and maybe more but i'm not sure. and from the self titled first album they played "Chromosome". Amazing show indeed, highly recommended for all to see.
