The NYCMAC Full Contact Kung Fu Championships gave New York City its first taste of San Shou fighting recently, treating the audience to 15 matches featuring skilled fighters from around the country. In between the matches, they were also entertained by some of the many masters in attendance.
The fight everyone was anticipating was the bout between Chazz Menendez and JaVonne Holmes. Both are experienced and skilled fighters and they exchanged rapid kicks and punches as each tried to either throw or push the other off the Lei Tai platform. After three action packed rounds, Chazz captured a majority decision, with two judges having him ahead by a narrow two points and the third judge ruling it a draw.

King of San Da: USA note: This event was the first event in the history of San Shou to have a pre-set card of fighters, promoted like a kickboxing event. At the time, people said it was a “silly idea” but now it is the most important driving force in San Shou and San Da.
