San Shou vs. Full Contact Karate

Yet another in a series of "China vs. the world" matches conducted under "King of San Da" rules matched Chinese athlets against Japanese Full Contact fighters at Langfang City Stadium in Hebei province. The result was a 3 to 1 victory for China.

The matches started off with the 65kg category fight between Cui Chen, from Sichuan province, and Hasagawa of Japan. Cui Chen won decisively with his superior throws.

In the 70kg category, Lin Jianshen, from Guangxi province, faced Kitade, called the "Iron Fist of Mt Fuji". However, Lin clearly won his match with good combinations of kicking and punching used to set up powerful lifting throws

In 75kg category, Zhang Zhen faced Watanabe. This Karateka is the only fighter who managed to give his Sanda opponent a hard time, pummeling Zhang with rapid blows until he is forced to throw in the towel in the 4th round.

The final fight of the night was in the 80kg category between Xue Fengqiang, from Beijing, and Hamamatsu, "the Ichiro Sword". Although Hamamatsu fought fiercely, Xue manage to prevail against him with better technique. He won by points.

After this victory over Full-contact Karate comes the challenge from Korean Taekwondo fighters, scheduled on the 24th of July. They are all known to be young, below 20 years, but very talented. The San Shou Team however, feels confident of another victory for these Taekwondo fighters are mostly trained in accurately scoring points through various kicks and may not have enough KO power in their blows.
