our Cantor
The people of B’Nai Tikvah are proud to be served by Cantor Larry Kornit.

Cantor Larry Kornit and
his wife, Lauren, have been active members of Congregation B’Nai
Tikvah since November, 2000. Cantor Kornit began his
singing career at the age of nine at A.G. Beth Israel Congregation in Chicago,
under the tutelage of Hazzan Morton Pilskin. He won first place in 1978 and 1979 at the
Illinois High School Solo and Ensemble competition and began singing in the
choir at Congregation Kol Emmeth
in Skokie, IL.
Cantor Kornit’s
cantorial career began in 1986, after his graduation
from Northern Illinois University with a major in Communications and a minor in
Vocal Performance. He served Temple Israel in Valparaiso, IN as Hazzan from 1986 until 2000. Cantor Kornit has also been
the National Anthem soloist for Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls games.
Lauren Kornit is an accomplished
writer whose poetry won a literary prize given by
