Mike Spors group - grandfather, father and son, on June 27, 28 and 29. We fished the Little Bend peninsula all 3 days. In 15'-20' of water, fishing with bottom bouncers, plain hook and spinners with half a crawler. Fish ranged from 16" - 23". What a fun 3 days we had!
June 30 and July 1, I had Nate Felton and his girlfriend Kim, from Sioux Falls again fishing the Little Bend peninsula in 15' - 20' of water. We got our limits both days and the second night we camped out on the Little Bend peninsula and we landed a dozen cats. We netted a few small mouth and stripers in the process.
July 4 I fished with locals from Onida, Kenny Glanzer and Jimmy Whiff. I decided to stay away from the traffic at Bush's Landing and fish Sutton's Bay area. We didn't catch anything huge, but nice eaters ranging from 15" to 18 inchers. Fish were caught on points 13' - 17' of water. Bottom bouncers and plain hook with crawler.
July 6 & 7 I fished with Gary Vetter, and friends Gale and Mark. Again we fished the Sutton's area staying away from the traffic at Bush's. Both days we probably caught and released over 50 walleyes each day with walleyes ranging from 15" - 20 inchers, good eaters. All fish were caught on bottom bouncers, plain hook with red bead and half a crawler.
The bite at Sutton's Bay is steady but I will be fishing the Little Bend peninsula next week and perhaps checking out Fantasy Island. I should have an updated report within 2-3 weeks.
