Warriors Log 7-1 Record In 1955
2nd Place Finish in Sierra League

The 1955 Warriors finished the season with a fine 7-1 overall season record; 3-1 in Sierra League play. The only loss of the 1955 season was in Strathmore. This loss proved to be costly as the Warriors lost the league title and a chance to advance to the valley playoffs.

In Week 1 on the mountain, the Warriors dominated the Lone Pine Golden Eagles, 31-6. Al Muro scored four TD's on runs of 5, 22, 5, and 5 yards. QB Ruben Narez scored the final TD on a 3 yard end around play.

Tehachapi traveled into the desert in Week 2 to battle Victor Valley High School from the Desert League. Sparked by a Narez to Gary Henning TD pass play, the Warriors rolled over the Jackrabbits, 20-6.

Tehachapi made it three wins in a row in Week 3 with a 32-6 thumping of McFarland. Bruising running back Pete Galan scored the first Tehachapi TD on a 57 yard run. Muro scored the second TD on a 20 yard run (Narez PAT); Bob Goodell scored on a 20 yard run play; on a punt return play, Don Kennedy ran a fumble back 20 yards for a TD; and the final tally came from Keith Christy on a 30 yard fumble return (Muro PAT).

The Warriors went on the road in Week 4 and took it on the chin as upstart Strathmore outscored Tehachapi, 25-13. QB Narez scord once for the Warriors.

Tehachapi rallied nicely in Week 5, defeating the Bakersfield junior varsity Roughnecks, 33-18. The Warrior scoring included a 43 yard pass from Muro to Bill White; a 28 yard pass from Narez to Goodell; a one yard TD plunge by Muro; another 10 yard TD run by Muro; and a 50 yard TD sprint by Bill White.

Al Muro continued his torrid running and scoring pace, scoring twice against both Desert and Maricopa, as the Warriors defeating the Scorpions, 26-0, and Maricopa, 26-7.

In the season finale, Tehachapi whipped the East Bakersfield junior varsity Razorblades, 38-19. Muro scored 3 TD's (runs of 3, 2, and 3 yards) and 1 PAT kick to lead the Warriors, while Galan scored 2 TD's. The final Warrior score came on a Narez to Bill Gassaway 39 yard TD pass play.

Al Muro, pictured above, paced the 1955 team scoring 16 TD's and scoring 9 PAT's
for a total of 105 points scored for the season. He was one of the County's scoring leaders.
