Mountain Football had one of their most dominant first half performances of the season last Friday night in an eventual 48-20 drubbing over Highland.

Tehachapi (5-2; 2-0 SEYL) scored six unanswered touchdowns, with David Carter finding the endzone on two goal line runs within the first 10 minutes of the game before a four-touchdown surge in the second quarter.

Thomas Blewett helped the Warriors go up 21-0 when he recovered a fumble in the end zone on a bobbled snap by the Highland punter, and then Skylar Valencia and Christian Terle combined for three touchdowns to put the game on ice before halftime.

Valencia finished as the leading rusher with 155 yards on 18 carries, logging in three touchdowns, while Terle had 80 yards on eight carries and a second quarter score. Tehachapi had 310 rushing yards overall.

Highland (1-6; 0-2 SEYL) got on the board after halftime by taking advantage of a pair of Warrior fumbles, but after Valencia scored on a 24-yard run later in the third period, Mountain Football went on cruise control the rest of the way.

Trent Reynolds finished the second half with 36 yards on seven carries and Anthony Curiel had 20 yards on three attempts.

On defense, Jerry Castaneda and Blewett had fumble recoveries, both in the first half.

Victor Rodriguez connected on six point after attempts, finishing with 330 combined yards on seven kickoffs that included a touchback. Dakota Medovitch had 24 yards on two punt returns in other special team highlights.

Mountain Football will be back on the road this Friday night in Bakersfield against North. The game against the Stars will start at 7:30 p.m.
