The 1980-81 Lady Warriors include, left to right, Julie Wright, Stacey Carll, Cathy Degagne, DiAnna Villanueva,
Dinaa O'Neil, Cindy Dodd, Yolanda Gaeta, Anthea Koutroulis, Tracy Trimm, Lisa Bowles,
head coach Sandy Powell, and asst. coach Tracy Ogilvie.
Lady Warriors Capture First DIL Championship!
Gaeta and Koutroulis Named Co-MVP's
Under second year coach Sandy Powell, the Lady Warriors captured their first DIL championship with a perfect 10-0 mark.
It was the first championship for the Lady Warrior program since the league was initiated six years ago in 1975-76.
In league play, rival Mojave proved to be the toughest competion in the pack. The Warriors narrowly defeated the Mustangs in Mojave, 37-35,
on February 10. In the second game, in Tehachapi, the Lady Warriors played a tremendous game in routing the Mustangs 61-42.
The defending CIF small school champion Lady Warriors moved up a division this year to the "1A" Division --- hosting Perris in first round action.
The Lady Warriors soundly defeated Perris, 57-30, behind the 12 point efforts of both Cindy Dodd and Tracy Trim.
Round two would be a much different story, as the Lady Warriors hit the road to play San Bernadino High School. The Sunkist League Champions
crushed the Warriors, 87-47, despite a 14 point effort by Anthea Koutroulis.
For their fine play throughout the season, Dodd, Yolanda Gaeta, and Koutroulis were named to the all-league 1st team. Trimm earned Honorable mention honors.
Gaeta and Koutroulis were also named the co-Most Valuable Players of the team.
