The whole relationship thing between all the characters in MKR. The page I've been putting off since everything else is mostly done, but I can promise you that this page will be done really soon. If not, email me to finish it! I need some motivation! I hope to avoid any possible spoilers, but just for the safety of fans who have not seen MKR, I'll put a warning. If someone would like to make a version of a page that doesn't contain spoilers, feel free to do so! Just email it to me, and I'll consider it. But first, this page...the one I've been procrastinating on...

Who likes who in Rayearth? That's the question here. It's different in the TV series than it is from the OVAs. TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Same characters with slightly different personalities and a different drawing from the TV series. The first TV season doesn't show that much romance between the characters, but the concept is more brought out the second season. The manga/graphic novels are also slightly different as well, including what happens to particular characters, and that's why I've avoid putting a page of what MKR is all about, but I can shorten it to this: 3 girls are summoned from the Tokyo Tower to a world called Cephiro and they have a cool journey to rescue someone...and the ending is VERY unexpected. The second season is merely a continuation, while the OVAs are VERY different, since it was licensed by a different company (TV by Media Blasters and OVA by Manga), and the drawings of the characters are very different as well because CLAMP had more money and more time. The second season explains everything that happened in the first season...and that's all I'll tell you. Anymore and I'll end up telling the entire thing, and that would not be a good thing. But back to where I started...

Let's start with the Magic Knights, and since Umi is my favorite, I'll start with her. Since the first season has nothing about romance, I'll begin with the second season. Umi is completely clueless about romance, as when Ascot just flat out mentions that he loves her, she doesn't understand. She replies that she loves him as well...and everyone else. But Ascot doesn't care. He tells Caldina (who looks after him) that he loves Umi, and doesn't care if she likes someone else; he will always love her and protect her. Umi likes Clef, which I don't think any of the other characters know about, but in the very last episode of the second season, Clef knows (but I think he knew all along) because she just says it. It's such a touching moment. ^_^ A very interesting and funny love triangle, since she's clueless about the guy that likes her and the guy she likes is WAY too old for her. Clef-sama!

Then there's Hikaru - cute, perky, and has a lot of energy. Of course, you can probably figure out who she likes - the main character usually gets the best guys. Hikaru likes Lantis, but like with Umi, it's not mentioned (althoug the viewer can figure it out on their own) until the last episode. Another touching moment. ^_^ Eagle Vision also likes Hikaru, and sacrifices himself so that Hikaru will live and all this other stuff that I can't tell or it will spoil it. Like Umi, she's in a love triangle as well, but with much better guys. But I have to say that I love Ascot, although I wish he had more lines.

Fuu-chan, the only one to have a guy in both seasons - Ferio, the mysterious swordsman. He's a cool guy, but Umi didn't trust him when they first met him. They discover his secret in the second season, that he's actually a *prince*, the younger brother of Princess Emeraude. He likes Fuu; he cares for her, and comes to rescue her during an episode. Very gallant. ^_^ Unlike Umi and Hikaru, Fuu has her own guy, who is also a prince! You can't get any better than that.

Other characters...Caldina likes LaFarga, but there's only one moment with that. Eagle's mechanic, Zazu, has a crush on Hikaru, since he think she's cute and all that. The main people that caused all the problems in Cephiro is Princess Emeraude and the High Priest Zagato. She fell in love with him, and because her mind was occupied with Zagato, she couldn't concentrate on keeping Cephiro a peaceful place. The relationship is explained more in the second season, and it's because of the relationship that Princess Emeraude summoned the 3 girls.

$&#$! I just found out that the site I used to link to for explaining the OVA relationships isn't, well, there anymore. That was such a wonderful site. The reason why I'm not writing about the OVAs is because I didn't like them a whole lot, and they made my man die. =/ I didn't like the artwork that much either, despite the fact that MKR (overall) is by CLAMP and they has beautiful work (look at CCS). They changed their drawing style for the OVAs, and Lantis and Eagle got ugly. *sigh* Oh well. It's like the Kenshin TV and OVA. Kenshin is drawn differently in the TV and OVA, but it's also a different time period between the two parts. I don't like the drawing of Kenshin in the OVAs, to let you know....
Hopefully I will find another exceptional site to explain the relationships of the OVAs. In the meantime, I plan to work on my page whenever I can, since the semester is just starting and I'm getting clogged with homework already. =/
