 WELCOME TO OUR HOME PAGE

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT OUR LLAMA FAMILY

Hello neighbors, I am Marjorie Conner from Spearfish, South Dakota.   Several years ago my daughter Deb Cudmore and I decided to raise llamas for fun and profit.   It certainly is fun, and a great way to spend time together with your family.   Llamas are very social animals - loveable, funny, and a real treat to be around.   Taking them to shows and watching them strut their stuff is very rewarding.   Friends in the llama business are great people to meet and exchange ideas with.

Llamas are very durable animals and are members of the camelid family.    They will fiercely defend their territory against predators and make great guard animals to pasture with your sheep, cattle, or horses.   Llamas are also used as pack animals capable of carrying from 80 to 100 pounds of supplies on a mountain trek or to bring back meat from a successful hunt.   They are also used much like a harness race horse to pull you around in your cart.   There are a lot of shows around the country and llama owners are everywhere in the USA.   For those of you in 4-H, these animals would make a great project for your youngsters and the llamas could double as guards against predators for your other pastured animals, or be used recreationally to pack your gear or pull your cart.   They bring happiness to many people when observed in a parade, a school function, or even a senior citizen center where our llamas are greeted with extraordinary enthusiasm.    Truth is, not many people have had the opportunity see a llama or feel it's silky wool.

I've included a listing from Winddancer Llamas so you can get an idea of the bloodlines, value, descriptions, and other pertinent information needed to make a decision about getting into the llama business for fun or for profit.   You can also see pictures of some of our llamas.   We will upgrade the pictures in the near future for better quality pictures, but for now, you'll get the idea.   Here are some related links that will take you to other llama web sites so you can explore the world of the North American Llama, find out where all the shows are, and get a more in depth exposure to the llamas as both a business and a hobby.

I enjoy hearing from people who are interested in llamas, so feel free to email me with your questions at mconner@blackhills .com and I will be happy to answer any inquiries you may have.   Pets are good for family; in fact, in addition to our llama business we also breed and raise exotic birds and own a pet shop called Wildside Pet Emporium in Spearfish, South Dakota.   I hope you will check out our additional pages which are linked here and come back often.
