I am currently in the process of revising and updating this web page. I didn't want to wait until I had completed everything to put it on the web, because it might never be complete. So please understand that some pages are incomplete or under construction at this time. I hope to update and add new pages often. |
The following information was pieced together with much help from Hal Holenbeck and Mike Hill who are descendants of Egbert Otis Holenbeck. Hal Holenbeck would like to acknowledge that most of the leg work regarding his contribution was by his brother, James Delbert Holenbeck, Jr. According to bible records, Egbert was the son of Urias (Eurias) Holenbeck of New York. Hal indicated that the name was faint but started with a "U" and that he had 3 sons, Egbert Otis, Henry and James. If you are unfamiliar with this outline form, it is based on a numbering system that identifies the generation of an individual. The base is EGBERT OTIS AND PARILLA HUME. In this system they are numbered 1. Their children are #2 . Their grandchildren are #3 and so on. This was started before we were aware of Eurias Holenbeck, and some day we may change all the #s. Please help by making additions and corrections to your line. Dig out the old letters and Bibles and talk to everyone you can. Visit the cemeteries, stop at the County Hall, check with funeral homes for records. Date and location of birth, death, marriage, burial whatever information you find will help. Don't forget the "new" generations. March 12, 1999 |
It is hard to think of this website as a beginning. Some of us have been "playing" with the family history for a while. At times it seemed that the effort required to track all 15 children of E. Otis and Perilla Holenbeck was too daunting to complete by myself. I was right. When I had just about burned myself out, a voice came out of ether space and offered much needed assistance. Though not directly connected with our line (yet), Robert Kleopfer the great mentor of Holenbeck Genealogy patiently answered questions, sent information, hints and connected me to Mike Hill and his wealth of facts. Without Robert; Mike, Pam and I would have simply put our separate work away to gather dust, and join the myriad of other bits and pieces of family knowledge scattered around this country. The task is still not completed. We have many families to add, and further ancestors to find. But with close to 30 "cousins" on line now and more being added weekly, I believe we will succeed. To all of you that have contributed information, photos, and/or documents to the work, thank you. If you have been putting off sending something, now is your chance. Because of you, our children will have a unique opportunity to discover their heritage. March 12, 1999 |
This web page is created by Pamela Robert. Please send your additions and contradictions and questions to us. It is the only way we can track down correct information and create a more complete and accurate set of information for everyone.

This section includes state and county maps of areas where Holenbeck ancestors lived. The maps are from the 1895 Atlas currently on-line. It is located on the world wide web at http://www.livgenmi.com/1895.htm. More information about the Atlas can be found in the section on maps. Also included with each county and state are genealogy resources on the world wide web. When possible there is also a link to the local chamber of commerce or businesses in the area. This page contains obituaries of the Holenbeck family. They are linked to and from the Family History Pages. Please take the time to read a couple. Please let us know if you have additional obituaries to add. Click here or on the Obituaries header above to go to the Obituaries page. |
Currently this page will simply provide a link to the Question Page. The plan is to create another frames section here that will link the question, an answer, if available, and the area of the Family History Page to which it relates. A form that will make it easy to submit answers to questions is also on the planning table. Click here or on the Questions and Answers header above to go to the Questions reference page. |
