8.  GEORGE HENRY5 HUGGETT (WILLIAM HENRY4, THOMAS3, MATTHEW2, GEORGE1) was born 14 October 1852 in Levanna, Couyga Co, New York, and died 22 March 1933 in Eagle Lake, Douglas Co, Wisconsin.  He married (1) MARY FULTON.    He married (2) MARY A SHELLY 1875 in Waupaca Co, Wisconsin, daughter of VOLNEY SHELLY and ELIZABETH DEMING.  She was born 25 September 1854 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died 17 March 1905.

GEORGE HUGGETT                              St. Olaf Township

One of t he best known and highly respected farmers and citizens of Otter
Tail County, was the late George Huggett, who was born at Levanna, Cayuga
County, New Yor k, on October 14, 1852, son of William and Rebecca
(Marden) Huggett.  Mr. Hug gett's father was a native of Surrey, England,
born on August 9, 1822, and hi s mother was a native of Sussex, England,
born on November 8, 1825.

They w ere married on January 1, 1850, in England, and on April 1st of the
same year , started for America.  They landed in New York City after a
voyage of five w eeks and subsequently settled in Coyuga County, New
York.  In 1856 they immig rated to Wisconsin and located in Dodge County.
In 1867 they moved to Waupac a County and here Mrs. Rebecca Huggett died
in 1869.

In 1878 Mr. Huggett m oved to Douglas County.  In1882 he took up a
homestead of one hundred and six ty acres of South Dakota land, and their
lived a short time, after which he m oved to St. Paul, Minnesota, where he
died on July 12, 1906.

During the Ci vil War, He served in the Thirty-second Wisconsin Volunteer
Infantry for nine months.

George Huggett the subject of this sketch attended school only abou t one
hundred days in his whole life, in Dodge County, Wisconsin.  When he wa s
fifteen years old, he moved with his parents to Waupaca County,
Wisconsin , and there, in 1875, he was married to May A. Shelly, who was
born in Milwau kee, Wisconsin, on September 25, 1854.  She was the
daughter of Volney K. and Elizabeth (Deming) Shelly, who lived in
Hartford, Wisconsin where she was bo rn.  Mrs. Huggett's father was a
native of New York and died at Maltoon in Sh awano Co, Wisconsin.

Mr. and Mrs. George Huggett were the parents of twelv e children:  Mary,
Martha, George, Maud, Melvin, William, Olive, Jennie, Mart in, Earl,
Bessie and Blanch.  Mrs. Huggett died on March 17, 1905 and in June 1906,
Mr. Huggett was married to Mrs. Mary Fulton, of Oconto, Oconto County,
Wisconsin.

On February 17, 1878 Mr. Huggett came to Douglas County, Min nesota, and
in June of that year, he purchased a farm of one hundred and fift y-eight
acres in St. Olaf township, Otter Tail County, adding to this farm un til
he owned at one time three hundred and fifty-four acres of land.  Mr.
H uggett lived upon this this farm until 1906, when he moved to Fergus
Falls, w here he lived for three years.

In 1909 he moved to Girard township, where he had four hundred acres of
land, which he greatly improved.  Mr. Huggett buil t a fine residence,
which he built in 1914.  He was well know in Girard towns hip as a stock
breeder, specializing in Shropshire sheep and Duroc Jersey hog s.

Mr. George Huggett died on March 22,1933, he served as a member of the
St. Olaf township board for seven years and for six years was chairman of
the board of supervisors in Girard township.  He was a Republican in
politics an d was director of the local school.  For twenty-two years, was
treasurer of t he school corporation.  He was President of the local
Farmers Society of Equi ty and was also President of the Henning Shipping
Association.

Huggett

George Huggett was one of the pioneers of St. Olaf Township.  He was born
at Lanenna, Cayuga Co, New York on October 14, 1852, moving with his
parents to Wisconsin in 1856.

I n 1875, he married Mary A Shelly.  Mary was born in Wisconsin on
September 25 , 1855, the daughter of Volley K and Elizabeth Dunning
Shelly, both natives o f new York.  She was the sister of Simon O. Shelly,
another early settler in Ashby-St Olaf area, who died on November 8,

9.  MARTIN RICHARD5 HUGGETT (WILLIAM HENRY4, THOMAS3, MATTHEW2, GEORGE1) was born 12 December 1855 in Levanne, Cayuga Co, New York, and died 2 April 1902 in St. Paul, Ramsey Co, Minnestoa.  He married LOVINA JERUSHA DELAP 9 October 1875 in Lind, Waupaca Co, Wisconsin, daughter of REV. DELAP and CORNELIA ANDREWS.  She was born 9 September 1856 in Baraboo, Salk Co, Wisconsin, and died 14 December 1933 in Olympia, Thurston Co, Washington.

Martin R. Huggett died Thursday, April 3, of paralysis, at St. Mary's
h ospital, in St. Paul, aged 45 years.  He leaves a wife, four sons and
four da ughters, an aged father, two brothers and five sisters, besides a
large circl e of friends to mourn his loss.  The funeral services were
held from the hous e Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Liggett, assisted
by Rev. James Godward of Elbow Lake.  The remains were interred in
Lakeside Cemetery.

Also in t he same paper, same day:

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Huggett, who came over from Webs ter, S.D., to attend
the funeral of Mr. Huggett's brother, returned home Tues day.

Geo. Huggett who is seriously ill, reported slightly improved.

Mr. a nd Mrs. William Huggett arrived Sunday noon from Billings, Montana.

WEDDING HELD IN BORDER CITY

Weddings and engagement annou ncements continue to figure in the news of
the Spring season.  Miss Helen Hug gett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
Huggett of Madeira, Calif, and Joseph Runyan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank
R. Runyan of Tucson, were married at an inf ormal ceremony performed in
the Methodist parsonage at Nogalas Thursday after noon at 4:30 o'clock.
Rev. A.R. Mclaugh was the officiating clergyman.

M iss Katharine Willis acted as the bride's attendant, while Clifford
Klinger o f Minneapolis, Minn was the best man.  Mrs Frank R Runyan was
also present du ring the service.

The bride wore white, with luggage tan and white accessori es.  Miss
Willis' dress was of luggage tan, and her accessories were also of
luggage tan and white.
The wedding party came to Tucson's San Carlos cafe for a wedding dinner
after the ceremony.

The couple are leaving the first of the week to make their home in
Savanna, Ill, where Mr. Runyan will go into business.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of Tucson high school.  Th ey both
have been employed here.  Mr. and Mrs. Huggett were residence in Tucs on
until a few months ago.

Joseph Runyan Dies in California

Joseph Runy an, 49, a former resident of Tucson for nearly 20 years died
yesterday in Tor rance, Calif., according to word received here yesterday.

Mr. Runyan, who ha d also been in real estate and automobile business in
Illinois, was owner of the A & A tavern in Tucson before going to
Torrance in 1958.

He was the so n of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Runyan who had been residents of
Tucson for 35 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Odd
Fellows.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Frank Robison, Gardenia, Calif.; a
sister Mrs. Frank Ford,; Torrance, Calif.; two sons, Patrick Michael and
Terrance Joseph; a daughter, Kathleen and one Grandson.  Services will be
held tomorrow in Torrance.
