Acadecian CalendarAcadecian years are split into eight months, each with either 40 or 48 days. Each week lasts eight days. The days of the week are as follows: Iltam Months of the YearWinter 1. Gabbron (GAH-bruhn). 40 days. 2. Wispa (WEE-spuh). 48 days. Spring 3. Dandeon (DAN-dee-ON). 40 days. 4. Meriadoc (MEHR-ee-ah-doke). 48 days. Summer 5. Gammus (GAM-muhs). 48 days. 6. Flearūn (FLAY-uh-rone). 48 days. Autumn 7. Hespo (HES-poe). 40 days. 8. Ormus (ORE-moose). 40 days. Year's End Year's End consists of a short week of festivals, usually dealing with harvest. The days are Reaper's Day, then Shuckwheat, then Moonsong, then Dusklight. Every four years, Dusklight is followed by Wight's Eve (a day of mourning the dead), then Wraithmoon (a day to hallow the earth), then Shadesnight (a day to bless the tombs), and finally Deathmoon's Day (despite the ominous name, it is merely a day to perform the age-old custom called the Rite of Circles, where farmers create elaborate designs in their crop fields by pushing down the stalks with "shoes" made from wooden planks--very similar to our "crop circles"). The Year's End week is always ended with Moondawn, a day of feasting and celebrating the end of the year. The current era is CA (Coming of the Archmagi), the year being 3325ca. The previous era, DR (Divine Reckoning) lasted approximately 2000 years. All time before the Divine Reckoning era is simply known as PDR (Prior to Divine Reckoning), which uses a backwards year counting, similar to our B.C. era. The date is placed year, day, month. So, were the date being written the sixth of Hespo, 3301ca, it would be written like this: |
