For centuries, the Realms have been in conflict. Warring kingdoms, wizard tyrants, and unending catastrophes have shaped the people of Acadecia into grim and hardy folk. Now, the eight legendary Archmagi have put into place the Thaumaturgical Constitution, a legendary decree that states that no one shall use magic for ill deeds again. The powerful Mage Knights uphold this decree with as much fairness as they can. But some just don't want to play by the rules... Acadecia is a world where wizards and sorcerers are shunned, thanks to eons of magical abuse. Despite the efforts of the Archmagi, stereotypes of arcane spellcasters run rampant. Warriors and barbarians abound, and various monastic orders pit their fighting styles against each other in friendly (and sometimes not-so-friendly) rivalries. Druids and rangers walk the forests, acting as both tenders and protecters. The famous Urban Ranger, or "detective," hunts the streets for criminals, and occasionally a bounty--dead or alive. Each of Acadecia's realms have problems. From the frozen wastes of Grimward, to the mounting extraplanar population of Trik and Vormen, to the ever-present land war between the Alaborn Province and the Mannix Kingdom. Things are getting out of control. With all their mighty power, the Archmagi are helpless to stop it. All they can do is delay the inevitable crumbling of civilization for as long as possible. Unless... Perhaps there is a group of brave and worthy adventurers, those who will fight to stop the forces at work, and return order to the chaos of Acadecia... Are you prepared? |
