Portrait into Self Portrait
This is the original photograph that I choose to use for project five. It was taken in August of 1998 at the old train depot in Railroad Square in Santa Rosa. One reason I choose this photo was becasue of the orange light, which had a very nice affect, due to it being taken a little while before the sun set. I reaslly enjoyed working on this project. My Mom and I went and bought photoshop and through this project I was able to learn a great deal aboput the program (alhough I still have so much more to learn, which is exciting). The worst part of the project was getting in all onto a web page but I finally did it. And it was worth all the horriable pain, for I really like the way it turned out.
This version took a great deal of time becasue I had to change the background color pixle by pixle. It was a very long and slo process. But I'm happy the way it turned out.
This third portrait is my favorite, next to the last one. I like the differences between the original and this one in the color. This one has a surreal feeling to it because the color change does not hit you over the head, it plays tricks on you. It was a alter reality feel to it, which is one reason I like it. I can't exactly say how I changed it, I just changed it, it goes along with the surreal feeling it poseses.
This is my favorite portrait in this project and I had the most fun changing things on this one. This is my attempt at abstract art, which is new to me since I basically only do photoraphy and a few other things. But I really enjoyed doing this one. I used different filters and shading and a bunch of other things (which I don't know what they are now). I really like the effects that came out in this photo and the strangeness it has. This was is a good self portrait because it shows many layers to the picture that represent what is in side me and then there are different lines and angles that are my emoitions. The colors all show a picture of who I am also (diffantly the black). The portrait shows that just like it, I to have many different parts to myself and there are constant turns and jumps and falls filled with great despair but also a bringing along a few moments of complte bliss. Art can represent many different things and this picture shows.
I really enjoyed working on this project. I am going to continue working with photoshop and trying different things out. I think I'll really get into it because I do photography. Next I want to try to do some pictures like the ones on the X-File trading cards or pictures for The Crow, the artist I'm thinking of is Cliff Nielsen, he really inspires me. His stuff is so cool, I want to try to do stuff in that style with my own images and see what I can do.
