Pokémon Snap

When I first heard about this game a couple years ago, the first thought that came to my mind was, "what is Nintendo smoking?". But after playing it recently, I can see the reasoning behind this bold decision. You play as Todd, a photographer, who is hired by Prof. Oak To take pictures of Pokémon on Pokémon island. The game focuses around Todd, traveling through several different worlds trying to capture the best possible shots of all the Pokémon. Although the game is a bit short, and only a little more then 60 of the Pokémon are present, it gives an experience that should not be missed by anyone.

Graphics 9.5/10-The graphics are quite good in this game. The Pokémon themselves look just incredible. They all look very round, not at all blocky, and each Pokémon sports several different animation routines.

Sound 8/10-The sound also is very nicely done. Each Pokémon makes their own unique sound taken straight from the show. The music isn't too bad either, though it can get annoying after a while.

Play Control 10/10-Controls are fairly simple, since you don't have to worry about moving anywhere, all you have to do is sit back and take pictures. The main controls consist of only 3 buttons, zooming in, shooting pictures and tossing various objects at Pokémon.

Fun Factor 9/10-As far as fun goes, this game has it made. Its really a highly innovative concept that seems to work, run around and take picture of Pokémon. While the game itself may be short, it allows you to do and find many things, whether it be finding that last Pokémon, or just trying to improve the scores of your pictures.

Replay Value 6.5-If there’s a downfall to this game it has to be its replay value. While the game is fun, its just too short and easy. Sure there are those hard parts, like finding those last few Pokémon, but after that there’s not much else to do. I, myself, after playing the game only 3 days have already finished the whole thing. Now all that is left to do is to take better pictures. Too bad Nintendo didn't include more courses.

Overall 8.5/10
