Like it’s predecessor on the Super Nintendo, Pilot Wings allows you to fly through many missions involving suck tasks as sky diving, jumble hopping, flying a gyrocopter, shooting yourself out of a cannon, and strapping a rocketbelt onto your back. You can handle that, right? Featuring 6 charectors and several courses, this is one game that allows you the freedom to go anywhere you choose, wether it be up or down.
Graphics (6.5)-The sprites on Pilot Wings for Super Nintendo looked better than this! The characters are made out of about 2 polygons each. There is good frame rate, and after stepping into the pilot’s seat, you’ll see why. There just aren’t many polygons around.
Sound (9.5)- Though the graphics are an eye sore, the sound quality helps move this game along. Such sound effects as voices, applauses, crashes and the sea monster, all really help to make the game sound realistic.
Play Control (7.5)- Simply, the controls are easy to learn, but they just don’t work that well. It seems difficult to keep control of many of the vehicles. For instance, the gyrocopter makes it a real challenge to change directions and the rocketbelt’s controls are just too sensitive. You really have to wonder who is in control here.
Fun Factor (9.0)- Though the controls are tough to use, the game is surprisingly fun. Not so much the missions, but just screwing around. Once you finish all the missions, you can go really anywhere with every vehicle in all the worlds. The cannon is really fun to use when you’re not trying to win.
Replay Value (7.5)- While you’ll probably come back to this game for the freedom, the missions can be a real bore. After all, once you beat the game, all there is for you to do is take new pictures and achieve better scores.
Overall 7/10
