Mario Kart 64

With it’s many modes, races, and characters, it’s no wonder Mario Kart 64 is a million seller. This game puts the pedal to the metal in time trials, grand prix, battle mode, and versus.Your favorite characters are back in the sequel to the hit SNES classic, and are battling it out for king of the road with many weapons at their disposal. Mario, Wario, Luigi, Yoshi, and several others are all here in this superior racing game.

Graphics (9)- The graphics are very well done, especially in the select character screen, and look decent in the actual gameplay. Most of the textures look excellent, and little extras, such as the ferry in DK’s Jungle Parkway, look excellent.

Sound (8.5)-From the squeal of tires to the yell of another racer getting blasted, the sound quality of this game is rather good. Everything has a sound effect. You can always tell if you hit someone with a weapon by your character’s war cry (Yipee or something like that).

Play Control (7.5)- The controls for this game are actually very simple to learn, but some aspects are difficult to master. The mini-turbo takes practice, as well as the power sliding.

Fun Factor (10)- This game is definitally worth a purchase, since it’s just so freaking fun! It can get very intense. For instance, if you are tied with someone and the end of the final lap is in sight and, BLAM!, you nail them with a shell causing you to gain the lead and finish the race. It’s excitment like this that’ll keep you coming back for more. The grand prix on this game doesn’t get boring, while the multi player mode, is very well designed. It can test the strategizing skills of you, and if you have any, your friends.

Replay Value (9)- The battle mode is so addicting it can and will hold you back you from the rest of your life, if you have one. It’s excellent racing modes are very entertaining, and could go on for hours.

Overall 8.5/10
