Jet Force Gemini

This is another great game from Rare. However, if you have read any reviews elsewhere about this game, you may have noticed the consistent nagging about framerate issues. I, for one, don't belive them to be all that bad. In fact, I rarely notice them. True, the game does slow down in places, especially in some of the cinemas (only when a very large amount of characters are on screen at once). It's definitely worth a purchase.

Graphics(9)-The graphics are really quite impressive. The characters all have excellent animation, and look fairly round. The textures are nice on the eye, however, since many of them are so similar, its hard to tell where you have been before. Also, the framerate which does slow down occasionally, isn't too bad, and maintains a fairly consistent speed in multiplayer.

Sound(9)-The music is absolutely incredible, Rare really did a great job. The music is very dynamic and fits the mood well. The sound effects are great too, from the gunshots to the screams of aliens being decapitated.

Play Control(7)-The play control is reasonably complicated in this game. The "A" and "B" buttons are used for scrolling weapons. C-Up is used to jump. Ducking is controlled by C-Down. While sidesteping is selected by the C-Right and C-Left buttons. "Z" is obviously used to shoot. However, when you press "R", there are numerous changes. The C Buttons now move you around al la Turok, and the control stick adjusts your aim. Intuitive, but confusing.

Fun Factor(9)-This game is a lot of fun to play. The levels are huge, and the excellent multiplayer is great when you have a bunch of friends around. And with the ability to find hidden characters and cheats, you'll be here a while.

Replay Value(10)-Again, this game excels in replay value, not only is there a lot to do, but like I mentioned, the multi-player is great. This is not a game you'll beat overnight. It took me over thirty hours to complete everything.

Overall-9.0/10
