Star Wars: Episode 1 Racer

Based after the much anticipated Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace’s pod racer scene, you play as Anakin Skywalker and a number of other aliens. You can face off against anyone of them from the movie, and a few others as well. Other characters make appearances as well, like a jedi or two, some pit-droids, and even Watto.

Graphics (8.5)- The graphics are quite good on the podracers, and a lot of the courses. In one mode, you can thoroughly inspect your podracer, and all the pit droids working on it. This is the best part of the game.

Sound (4)-There are few sounds in this game, and many of them aren’t that good. The two musical pieces (yes, two) are nice to listen to, but come up so rarely. One on the title screen, the other on the third lap. The character voices get real repetitive after a while. Then there’s Watto. His 10 or so phrases get annoying, fast!

Play Control (4) While the main controls were easy, the turbo feature and lean buttons were just dumb. You literally can not steer while trying for a turbo boost. This is the worst button configuration for a racing game that I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Fun Factor (6.5)-After the first race or two, this game is seriously boring. Some seem to drone on too long, and the other racers seem non-existent. The only reason you might play the rest of the game is out of curiosity.

Replay Value (3)-There is really no replay value to this game that might even attempt to attract you back. There is almost no original play value, and if you ever come back to this game, play the two-player game. This game really is gonna sit on your shelf and collect dust for a loooooooooooong time.

Overall 3/10
